This short tutorial is for someone experiencing chronic worrying and who wants to stop the worry loop.

Worrying can paralyze us and prevent us from figuring out solutions.
Worrying can paralyze us and prevent us from thinking of solutions.

In this short tutorial, you will receive a way of approaching worry that has helped me and those I’ve helped, overcome chronic anxiety from worry.

Let’s begin-

First, I’d like to help you start seeing that worrying does not benefit you in any way.

Worry is an obsession over the possible negative impact of an undesired event — that leaves you powerless.

Worrying might seem helpful because we are remembering the significance of a risk, but it doesn’t help you remove that risk or make things better.

This obsession with a fearful experience is the result of unfinished problem-solving. In complete problem solving, you would:

  • realize a problem
  • realize how important it is to solve the problem — in order to do something about it
  • figure out how to solve it and then solve it

When you worry, you haven’t finished the process:

  • You realized there is a chance that something bad may happen.
  • You realized that this possible bad experience would be really painful immediately and cause damage down the line.
  • But you haven’t figured out how to prevent that situation and move on.

You have the power to prevent those imagined scenarios from happening.

Second, take a moment to map out your situation.

You likely have a situation that can be “passed” or “failed.”

And you likely have expected results or consequences branching out from the “failed” scenario.

Under your scenario, answer the following questions.

  • What is required to pass through this situation?
  • What can I do to fulfill those requirements?
  • How can I find a way to fulfill requirements that I cannot currently fulfill?
  • If you “fail” in this situation, what is the most likely negative results of the situation?
  • What can I do to make those negative situations less painful?

Lastly, from these questions, you likely have many ideas of things to do.

  • Take care of preventing the biggest harm. This will help you relax and be assured.
  • Then, focus entirely on completing the actions to pass the situation.

By doing realizing worry is not helpful, analyzing your situation, and focusing on solving — you are likely to realize you will be fine and even find the way to succeed in the situation.

I hope this tutorial helps you.

Please remember: no matter how scary a situation may appear, you always have the power to get through it.

All the best, Tomas
